As we celebrate Orthodontic Health Month, we have to take the time to acknowledge another health effort focused on creating health awareness, Breast Cancer Awareness.
Breast Cancer is the most common of cancers affecting women in the US, and second leading cause of death. However, Breast Cancer also affects men. Breast Cancer is a malignant tumor that forms in breast cells. A malignant tumor is a group of cancer cells that have the ability to grow and spread.
Facts about Breast Cancer:
- One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
- Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women.
- Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death among women.
- Each year it is estimated that over 220,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 will die.
- Although breast cancer in men is rare, an estimated 2,150 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and approximately 410 will die each year.
IN OUR OFFICE IT’S A PINK OUT! FOR EVERY PATIENT WHO CHOOSES PINK TIES FOR THEIR BRACES, DR. WILMOT WILL MAKE A DONATION TO THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY. JOIN US IN THE FIGHT AGAINST BREAST CANCER. We started on September 22nd a Pink Out. Since then we had 29 patients choose pink for their braces. Dr. Wilmot is donating to The American Cancer Society for every patient who chooses pink ties.
