A Perfect Smile at Any Age

When people think of braces the assumption is that treatment is specifically for children and young adults. Tooth alignment can be changed at any age if your gums and bone structures are healthy.

As you get older your teeth age as well. Between the foods you eat and the natural aging process your teeth are bound the change over time. Crooked teeth and a bad bite can contribute to gum and bone loss, tooth decay, abnormal wear of the tooth enamel and surfaces, headaches and jaw joint (TMJ/TMD) pain. Just because you aren't walking high school hallways anymore doesn't mean you can't have a youthful smile.

Orthodontic treatment during the later stages in life helps not only to improve your smile, but your self-esteem as well. The techniques and appliances used by Janice Wilmot Orthodontics can result in a significant reduction in discomfort, number of visits, and overall treatment time. Your options for treatment  include metal braces, translucent braces or transparent aligners.

Did you know that some of your favorite celebrities have decided to undergo orthodontic treatment? Legendary actress Faye Dunaway, known for her role in such movies as Bonnie and Clyde, got braces at age 60!

So, the point is...It’s never too late to get the smile you have always dreamed of. And you shouldn't let preconceived notions about braces stop you...a large percentage of our patients are adults.
